High Beech Golf Course
The home of the short game
I had a lovely playing lesson on a beautiful morning this week. For all the practice and work we can do on the practice ground, there's nothing quite like getting out on the course where I can see you in action. My lesson prices are very reasonable, with a playing lesson starting from £20, the same price as a 30-minute adult lesson. Get in touch here to book a lesson.
The shop at High Beech is looking particularly good right now, with Lynx's Predator irons coming in at a fantastically low price. With a sporty look and high-level performance, these irons will give the improving player greater distance and forgiveness. Learn more here.
Bring on the Ryder Cup
For scheduling reasons, the final Major of the season was on us pretty quickly at the weekend – but the 98th PGA Championship delivered a thrilling finale.
There was a danger that with events in New Jersey coming so soon after The Open at Royal Troon, the tournament wouldn’t have the same buzz, but eventual winner Jimmy Walker and defending champion Jason Day provided a dramatic ending to the Major season. Day’s stunning approach to 18 (click to view at the bottom of my newsletter), which set up eagle, put the pressure on Walker, but he held his nerve to capture his first Major title.
So, that’s that. Well, not quite, because we still have the Olympics to look forward to, and no matter what your opinion on that, it will be interesting to see how it pans out. Then, it’s the big one! It’s less than two months to go until Team Europe takes on the US at Hazeltine National Golf Club. The Americans will have another new Major winner in their side after Walker’s recent triumph, and with Dustin Johnson claiming his first Major this year as well, things are shaping up nicely – it could well be a classic.

Was this shot of the week at the PGA Championship? Watch Jason Day's perfect 2-iron approach from 258 yards to set up a 13-foot putt for eagle on the par-5 18th.
We hope you enjoyed this week's newsletter. As always, if you have anything that you'd like to contribute please speak to one of the pro shop team. We'll see you at the club over the coming days.
