Sunday, 12th October, saw the 50th year of the High Beech Open Cup. 36 players teed up for a shotgun start to play for the Johnny Leach medal with the top eight scratch scores qualifying for the playoffs. The top eight golfers were: D.Etherington jnr, L. Samuel, D.Code, N.Skull, M.Cato, D.Etherington snr, K.Hanchett and G. Sideras.
The eventual winner was D. Etherington snr after shooting a round of 30, including a great 12 footer on the last to knock Lee Samuel into second place. Sunday was a good day for the Etherington family with young Dave winning the Johnny Leach medal and we must not forget Keith Harvey collecting the money for the players' sweep.
Our thanks go to all the players for taking part, to Barbara for the lunch and to Jeni for the admin to help make this another good year. Click here to view the full Open Cup honours board.
